2014年的大阪亚洲电影节上，日本导演太田信吾的新片《脆弱》因涉及大阪贫民窟釜崎，遭大阪市政府封杀。电影审查官员要求太田信吾将片中涉及釜崎的镜头全部删掉，还对他进行利诱。大阪市政府遮遮掩掩的做法揭开了釜崎这个“日本最大贫民窟”的冰山一角。
　　美国广播公司(ABC)23日报道称，太田信吾的《脆弱》讲述了一个不得志的电视台导演，因与女朋友及同事闹翻，又失去工作，不得不全力拍摄一部反映釜崎男孩生活的影片，在拍摄中面临重重困难最后失败的故事。片中的部分场景取自釜崎涂鸦遍野、垃圾遍地的小公园以及人头攒动的救济中心。影片主角还与当地毒品贩子做了交易。太田信吾称，政府让他把这些内容全部删掉，那些形容廉价旅馆和吸毒者的釜崎特有俚语也不得出现。为拉拢太田，大阪政府给他60万日元(约合37000元人民币)的补贴，并暗示可以让他的电影在大阪电影节首映。太田提出返还补贴，但政府让他留着，还让他不要向媒体透露此事。太田称：“我认为他们让我删掉那些镜头是试图掩盖釜崎的存在。”
